The pool was nice to hang out by and cooled you down on those hot days. For those that do not want to eat every meal out, the kitchen and gas grill were added benefits. The landscaping and the courtyard added a nice privacy for those that enjoy laying out around the pool. The paddle boards and kayaks were also useful in looking at sea turtles in the canal leading to the ocean.

Karen and John were fantastic hosts and ensured we had what we needed and even offered advice on how to navigate the island and tips on where to go and when. They also had all the extras we could ask for, including snorkel gear and beach toys. There is a path leading to a private dock where they had paddle boards and kayaks we could use. We had a blast taking them out through the local canal to the beautiful ocean and secluded beach nearby (also available via a short walk). She was very friendly and responded quickly whenever we emailed or texted her; her instructions were very clear and detailed and she was always happy to provide recommendations when we asked for them. Indeed, she proactively addressed many of our questions in her thorough welcoming emails even before we thought of them.
The LightHouse is a lovely, well-designed home in a quiet area - we enjoyed swimming at the nearby lovely cove and kayaking/paddleboarding in the adjacent canal. The house was very clean and well kept and Karen and Herline addressed all our needs very promptly.
TCI is absolutely wonderful and the LightHouse is an excellent base from which to explore the islands.

Most of our time was spent in Thompson Cove Beach bc it was less than a five minute walk and was just as beautiful a beach as anywhere on the island. The canal had SUPs and kayaks and was such an amazing place to explore. Each morning my husband paddle boarded over to this little part of the beach I liked to walk to and we met up.
Karen is the perfect host- friendly, communicative and responsive. The sweetest part is Soldier. That good boy really did come every morning and walk us to the beach. He is only half alive- I don’t know what Karen is feeding him! But he is very very chill and very sweet.
Karen’s place is really a hidden gem and made us feel less like a tourist and more completely just at peace with our surroundings. It was just the getaway we needed for our busy lives. 🩷

We really enjoyed snorkeling at the beach; it’s best during high tide when u can swim over the coral balls. We saw several turtles while snorkeling and while kayaking in the canal. You have to drive to all the restaurants and grocery stores except for da conch shack so a rental car is a must. I don’t like the crowded touristy areas so this house was perfect for us, we were the only ones on the beach. But if u want to go to the touristy area it is about a 15 minute easy drive away.

Thompson Cove is private, seemed safe and sparsely populated, which was nice. Good position between the sea (snorkel/swim) and the canal (kayak/SUP). Pool is great after a hot afternoon out and about. The cottage was supplied well and we did not lack anything. Check in and check out were very easy and convenient, which is appreciated as it can be stressful for travelers. A car is necessary for getting around, and it only took me one day to switch my brain to left side driving.... Hope we can come back.

Not the same, pristine water... read more as other parts of the island, but it’s decent. Neighbors have graciously created a protected lagoon that would be great for small children. The private pool was nice for cooling off at the end of the day—and the innovative layout allows you collapse the walls and let the outside in. The rooms are spare, but spacious, and we appreciated having bedrooms that were separated from main space. Having a car is critical for this location and thankfully we took Karen’s advice and rented a car (be sure to book ahead as none were available same-day). The furnishings are starting to show some wear, but did not detract overall. The Lighthouse offers a clean, comfortable stay and a lot of potential.

We spent most mornings enjoying our coffee at the top of the Lighthouse or down by the dock. Evenings were spent with a bottle of wine and a sunset view from the Lighthouse. But the cherry on top of the perfect vacation was Soldier, our official Mascot and vacation buddy. We loved having the pool for late afternoon soaks, proximity to the canal with the paddle boards and kayaks (and turtles!), and a very short walk to the beach where you could swim out and snorkel, hunt for seashells, and watch the horse riding tours through the water. It was a good walk to Da Conch Shack for some great Conch Salad (my favorite) and yummy fritters and rum punch pitchers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back and stay in the Lighthouse space again in a nano-second.
Things to note about your visit to the island, the airport customs upon entry is no joke. 2 hours for us. Driving is an adventure (especially if you are from the US or Canada). There are mosquitos in the morning and at dusk, manageable with spray.

And Karen and John were super responsive, answered my many questions, offered great local recommendations and we enjoyed meeting Soldier and the gray cat so much! My 15 year-old son was so excited to meet Soldier and when asked what was his favorite part of our trip, his answer was "Soldier." Be sure to ask Soldier to take you to the beach - he gets so excited! 🙂

Great food at Da Conch Shack is just a 10-14 walk up the beach.

Enjoyed all of the sea turtles and cruising around on the kayaks.
